Mission Statement
Madison Elite Track Club prioritizes building a diverse team across race, income, abilities, and age. We focus on the overall health and well-being of athletes and their families by building a diverse community: diverse coaching staff (e.g., different levels of expertise), young to old participants, low income, high income, different communities, and different ethnicities/races.
Vision Statement
Madison Elite Track Club’s vision is to bring communities together through track and field.
What We Do
Madison Elite is designed to assist youth ages 3-17, who are interested in strengthening their physical fitness, mental endurance, and teamwork skills through organized track and field competition. Madison Elite will provide its members with functional track and field fundamentals, through trained professionals and former elite athletes who come with a passion for working with youth and the sport of track and field.
In addition to teaching physical persistence, Madison Elite offers its members a time of reflection and spiritual grounding following each practice. This space offers youth an opportunity to practice mindfulness and talk about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Madison Elite Track Club will continue to serve children from diverse backgrounds, families with low-income and middle-income as well as high-income families, all religious backgrounds, all gender/sexual orientation identifications, and every level of sports ability. Our intention is to bridge the gaps between groups and use track and field as a platform to connect youth to their bodies, each other, family, and community. We set this intention to build confidence in new youth leadership.
Coach Washington-Ross and the Madison Elite Track Club also work hard to make the club accessible and affordable for all who want to participate by seeking out grant funding so that fees remain low and scholarships are available for those who need it. A primary goal of this club is to secure enough funding so that all kids who want to join will be able to participate regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
History
Madison Elite Track Club was founded by Coach Venus Washington as a non-profit to assist youth ages 3 to 17 who are interested in improving their physical fitness, mental endurance, and teamwork skills through organized track and field competition. The club provides its members with functional track and field fundamentals, through trained professionals and former elite athletes who come with a passion for working with youth and the sport of track and field. In addition to teaching physical persistence, Madison Elite offers its members a time of reflection and grounding at the end of each practice. This is an opportunity to learn mindfulness, relaxation, and positive thinking skills in order to build resilience and self-esteem.
Madison Elite athletes learn to set personal goals in order to build self-confidence, discipline, and leadership, and several athletes have qualified for the national AAU meet as well as the USATF national meet.
Over the past 12 years, Madison Elite has served youth from diverse backgrounds including low, middle, and high-income families, various religious traditions, all gender/sexual orientation identifications, and every level of sports ability. Our intention is to bridge the gaps between various groups and use track and field as a platform to connect youth to each other, to family and community, and to their bodies in a healthy way. We set the intention of having a quality program that values every family.
